France section | Île Seguin

Bertrand Coldefy, Int’l. Assoc. AIA has organized a three-hour visit to visit the Île Seguin/Rives de Seine redevelopment. The  10h00, 16 November 2012 visit to the 45 hectare island formerly occupied by Renault includes visits to buildings under construction by Ateliers Jean NouvelFoster + Partners, and Mateo Arquitectura.

Organizer of the 2012 Istanbul conference Murat Soygeniş AIA is please to announce the availability of  a newly published work, "Mimarlik / Yaşamin içinden (Architecture / Through Life)".

Of the content he writes:

A journey full of architectural and urban observations, thoughts, projects and interviews. Architecture is a life long learning activity through which one can improve himself. This book gives details of architect’s writings and architectural designs while paving the way for an architectural journey through the interviews with the author.

Minimalist Designs Reign in 2012 AIA UK Design Awards


Although this year’s AIA United Kingdom Design Awards competition attracted the most submissions in its 18-year history, award recipients succeeded with a minimum of ornament and elaboration. Simple, strong designs, largely influenced by late-period Modernism carried the day. —via AIArchitect
