Although this year’s AIA United Kingdom Design Awards competition attracted the most submissions in its 18-year history, award recipients succeeded with a minimum of ornament and elaboration. Simple, strong designs, largely influenced by late-period Modernism carried the day. —via AIArchitect

AIA UK continues with their series of successful weekend excursions with a weekend tour of Cambridge on 7-9 September 2012.
Included will be a guided tour of Cambridge, detailed architectural building tours, and presentations by architects who have worked in the city and surrounding areas. A gala dinner held on the Saturday evening.

AIA Europe members are invited to join the AIA UK chapter for the 17-19 September Oxford tour. AIA Europe members attend for the same price as UK members, £99 for the early-bird special.
