The Morpholio Project

France Section Director Bertrand Coldefy, Int'l. Assoc. AIA notes that work from his son, former AIA Europe member Thomas Coldefy, has been selected for The Morpholio Project.

The Morpholio Project is an experiment in distributed intelligence and putting as much valuable feedback as possible into the design process.
At its heart, the project has been a global experiment in how device culture is changing our design process. It has ambitious goals and hopes to re-imagine the portfolio as a design utility, globalize critique, and create a horizontal platform for collaboration. Read more in the press release.
You can join the Morpholio Project via the App Store for full functionality (for iPhone and iPad), or log in to MyMorpholio.com to create an account, and start sharing.

The membership increased by 2000% in 2 weeks; it now exceeds 1500 members in over 20 countries.

Acquiring LEED certification in Europe

AIA Europe chapter member Les Jordan AIA of Vienna reports that he has successfully passed the LEED Green Associate exam without leaving Austria, through testing provider Prometric 1, which has testing facilities worldwide.
Jordan notes:

[H]e ordered the study material online through green-buildings.com 2 which provides a comprehensive study book (PDF download), mp3s, practice tests, and an 8-hour online seminar, which will give you the education requirements you need in order to apply for the exam.
The study package he selected took about 6 weeks of studying on my free time; I passed with about a 93%.
Les sought LEED certification with the intent that his practice will capture a a new project in the Middle East, with the experience on that project helping him prepare for the LEED AP exams. He notes however that additional online courses are available for the AP education requirements as well.
Members interested in learning more about Les Jordan's experience may contact him directly. Find him listed in the AIA Europe member finder of aiaeurope.org.

AIA Continuing Education System (CES) changes for 2012

Among the changes to CES reporting at the Institute for 2012 is an increase in health, safety, and welfare (HSW) continuing education hours (CEH) from 8 to 12. For architect members of the AIA, the total yearly requirement of 18 CEHs remains the same. Read more: The American Institute of Architects - 2012 Health, Safety, Welfare and Self-reporting Changes, Education.

What's a great way to get those hours? Attend an AIA Europe Conference in 2012 in Israel or Hamburg.

October 2011 Chapter meeting minutes

Available now are Chapter meeting minutes from Basel, October 2011.

With some spirited debate, the Chapter continues to focus on offering high-quality conferences that distinguish AIA Europe. This represents little change from the Chapter conversation in Stockholm, minutes of this meeting are also available.

Notably, the Basel meeting also included a screening of the video created in Stockholm.
