The Elbphilharmonie, by architects Herzog & de Meuron, is not just the centerpiece of HafenCity but really the centerpiece of the AIA Europe conference Hamburg | Hafen-on-Elbe as well. Any registrants from this date until early next week will note two things: 1) we might have a few spaces available still for the Elbphilharmonie tour and 2) our registration rate of €300 for members remains the same!

Sponsors keep AIA Europe conference costs low and for that we provide a unique and intimate opportunity for attendees and supporters to learn more about and from one another. We work to ensure a return value through presentations, receptions and tours — sometimes unintended: while visiting the Israel Museum in Jerusalem in April 2012, a mention was made of material supplied by one of the Chapter's stalwart sponsors, SWISSPEARL, an installation featured on their website.

Even the Venice Biennale was not immune from the strength of presence the Elbphilharmonie holds in HafenCity: Elbphilharmonie by Herzog & de Meuron at Venice Architecture Biennale 2012.

AutoStitch retweeted this panorama of HafenCity noting "Germany is a beautiful country!" Note the Elbphilharmonie on the left.

From the Chapter to Eric Wills at Architect Magazine we offer thanks for his expanded post: "AIA Europe Conference to Spotlight Hamburg’s HafenCity Development." One minor note, which everyone familiar with AIA Europe conferences may have already spotted: AIA Continental Europe chapter conferences are biannual. Hamburg is followed by Lyon and Düsseldorf in spring/autumn 2013, respectively; Paris and an not-yet-named location follow in 2014.

Members are encouraged to register for the upcoming Hamburg conference not just for the architecture & urbanism, nor to just greet the many new sponsors of the chapter (who are doing amazing things in façades and glass*), but also to help the Chapter fulfill the required Annual Chapter Meeting. The meeting is Sunday, 21 October and is always interesting. The biggest order of business is the discussion of upcoming conferences. Allow your presence and voice to count!

AIA Europe was one of many websites affected Monday by the alleged attack on GoDaddy. While not hosted on GoDaddy servers, aiaeurope.org was affected as GoDaddy is the Chapter's domain registrar. AIA Middle East was also affected by the outage. In light of this, early registration for the Hamburg | Hafen-on-Elbe will be extended one week.

Attending any AIA Europe conference has brought attendees close to a number of great projects over the years: Hamburg | Hafen-on-Elbe will be no exception with the chance to tour the construction site for the Elbphilharmonie by Herzog & de Meuron, seen here beyond HafenCity.

Early registration ends in a week or so. And, yes, the conference page does have hotel information.
Hamburg | Hafen-on-Elbe, the AIA Europe International Conference and Chapter Meeting, maintains a tradition of affordable pricing for a significant continuing education opportunity. This structure is the result of generous corporate partnerships. While late registration pricing remains a bargain, why not extend that through immediate action? Register now and save €75.
