She admits that, if she had it to do over again, she would take advantage of the connections and opportunities offered by the AIA Continental Europe chapter. “I felt very disconnected from practice in the U.S. while I was working in Germany,” she says. “I think it would have been a great way to stay in touch with other professionals like myself who were working abroad.”

Chapter founding member Thomas Vonier is running for Institute vice president. Elections are slated this June at the AIA national convention in Denver.
AIA Europe, the chapter he established in 1994, and his original Chapter, AIA Washington DC, nominated Tom to run, along with AIA New York. With a strong record of accomplishment within the
Institute, Tom led to establish the AIA International Region. He has long supported the practice interests of AIA members everywhere.
Tom speaks about his candidacy on YouTube.
Every AIA Chapter sends delegates to the convention to cast votes. Tom especially needs votes from AIA Chapters in the United States.
If you have good connections to Chapters and members in the US, please urge them to support Tom. See his campaign web site, www.vonierforaia.com, and please use Facebook®, Twitter® and LinkedIn® to promote his run!
