The current bi-monthly International Union of Architects (UIA) eNewsletter, N° 2/2006, has been posted to the AIA International Committee web site. The International Committee is one of many AIA Knowledge Communities which “share common challenges, opportunities or a passion for a given topic, and who collaborate to deepen their understanding of that topic through ongoing learning and knowledge sharing.” AIA members can participate in any or many of the current 25 Knowledge Communities. (Select: “Add/Modify Knowledge Communities”.
Knowledge Community subscriptions are currently available for non-architects in the Diversity Committee, Historic Resources Committee and Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture. To subscribe, you must not be eligible for full AIA and associate (including International Associate) AIA membership.
Members should be aware that at the end of this week email addresses will be removed from our mailing lists for those who are not current with their dues to AIA Continental Europe or the American Institute of Architects. If you receive a notice that your email address has been unsubscribed and believe an error has been made, please contact the site administrator immediately.
If you wish to renew your membership through the AIA and no longer have a copy of the invoice, you can still do so online with your membership email address and number. If you wish to renew your Continental Europe membership and are missing your paperwork, you can use a PDF blank or request a copy of the renewal form as sent by the Chapter Secretary in December 2005.
Returning to Paris to a year’s worth of Architectural Record magazines makes for a lot of page turning — so much that turning becomes a reflex. The occasional item makes an impact, such as the editorial about the UIA Congress in Istanbul by Robert Ivy, AIA. I thought the editorial was important enough that I asked permission from Architectural Record (AR) to reproduce it for AIA Continental Europe members who either missed it, do not receive Record or wish to read it again. The editorial remains online in the AR archives: Architectural Record | Editorials | August 2005.
As of this writing, the Italy Section Event “Como: Historic Architecture” has space available for an additional 12 attendees.
