Historic Preservation in Professional Architecture Education: An International Dialogue

Michael Mills, FAIA, of the Historic Resources Committee, notes that space is still available for members interested in attending the Historic Preservation in Professional Architecture Education Symposium in Bath, 12-14 September.

While previously noting that registration closed on 12 August, we have recently learned that with available space, members of AIA Continental Europe are still welcome and encouraged to register late, at least until 5 September and likely up to the day of the conference.

Members interested in this opportunity should contact Michael Mills at michaelm AT fmg-arch DOT com.

Registration closes on August 12, 2005. Don’t miss this unique opportunity — register now.

The Historic Resources Committee of the American Institute of Architects (AIA/HRC) will hold a symposium in Bath, England on the state of historic preservation architecture education internationally, featuring sessions held in the historic Bath Assembly Rooms and on the campus of the University of Bath, as well as tours of historic sites in Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage City, and environs. The final registration deadline for this informative program is Friday, August 12, 2005.

The symposium will further the dialogue between academicians and preservation practitioners to define the context, issues, approaches, and strategies to integrate preservation values into professional degree programs while also addressing European educational models.

For more information, including an agenda and registration form, please visit the AIA/HRC web page at Or, contact Vanessa Williamson via email at vwilliamson AT aia DOT org. We look forward to seeing you in September.
