Porto's Casa da Musica Complete

The link may not be active for long (and registration is required) but the 10 April New York Times has an article on the Casa da Musica in Porto, Portugal: "Rem Koolhaas Learns Not to Overthink It". A slide show accompanies the article.

I'm proud to say I saw it under construction, thanks to you, Pedro [Balonas]! Congratulations to Koolhaas and the people of Porto for succeeding in this incredible undertaking.
The Porto Conference of 2004, as organized by Pedro Balonas, Int'l. Assoc. AIA, was cited specifically by Hans Buchwald as the model for his organization of the May 2005 Helsinki Conference.

Three Reminders of Paris Spring

The Urban Strategies lecture series concluded 4 April with It’s Hard to Be Down When You Are Up. Thanks go out to AIACE member Rebecca Williamson, AIA for bringing this series to the attention of the France Section.

Isabel Meinecke, Int'l. Assoc. AIA passes along an invitation to members to see the paintings of Karen Spano, wife of Ray Spano, AIA. The opening is on Thursday, 7 April starting at 5:00 pm. The exhibit continues through Sunday 10 April at Galerie 43, rue Vandrezanne, Paris.

The American Chamber of Commerce France is pleased to invite members to “La mobilité Intelligente”, a presentation by Steelcase on 14 April 2005, 18h00. Reservations are required before 8 April. Details to respond by fax or email are on the invitation.
