The “Urban Strategies” lecture series, being presented by the Paris programs of Columbia University, Georgia Tech, Rice University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, continues on 1 March in Paris. This second of four lectures, entitled “Sprawltown, a new metaphor for the city” is being given by Richard Ingersoll in Reid Hall of Columbia University in Paris. All the lectures in the series are being presented in English. Details on time and place are available here.
Ed. note: when I wrote this post, I first spelled “Champaign” as “Champagne”. The ‘spell check’ program was none the wiser.
The Swiss Section of the chapter has organized a one day seminar. Read more about the Novartis Campus of Knowledge → Six CES credits are being offered. Space is limited — register soon. The registration form is available for download: .doc | .pdf.
John Thomson, of Torrance, California asks (and I'm paraphrasing for style): "Of the 13 + 3 CES credits (or LU's) being offered for attending all of the Porto conference, how many of those qualify for HSW"?
Dominique Tomasov Blinder, the chapter's continuing education coordinator answers: "All will qualify for HSW."

AIA - American Institute of Architects
February 12, 3004EPFL — Learning Center
Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
As mentioned in the attached document, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) is planning to build a Learning Center, which will serve as a focal point for the EPFL community to study, interact and exchange information.
In order to give shape to this project, the EPFL launches an international architectural contest. After the selective pre-qualification procedure, ten to twelve architects will be invited to submit their preliminary projects within the framework of the restricted procedure for the commissioned parallel study and then to present their final projects to an experts committee.
A public notice will be posted on February 17, 2004 in the official Swiss press (FOSC). Articles will also be published in several architectural reviews in order to increase architects' awareness of this project.
We would be very pleased if you could spread this information and make your members aware of the international architectural contest, which has been launched for this project.
We really thank you very much for your assistance and for your cooperation in this promising project.
Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We remain,
Yours sincerely
